Propagation Notes Ruellia humilis
Stratifying Seeds
Seed - Collect late in fall once capsule is brown, and begins to split
Stratify - Cold/moist storage for 60 days. We use small baggies filled with enough moist vermiculite to cover the seed. Store in refrigerator for 70 days.Alternatively- Sow seed in the fall outdoors. This method works rather well. Creating an inexpensive cold frame protects young seedling from harsh weather and keeps your seed in one location, making identification much easier in the spring
Germination - Our seed collected in fall of 2015 had a very high February 2016 germination rate.
