Suzy's Gardens Fairview Park, Ohio

A Nodding Onion plant that is ready to bloom has been newly planted and is growing near other flowers
One of the first plants Suzy added to her garden was a Nodding Onion

Asclepias tuberosa - Butterfly Weed

I have a sneaky suspicion that I may have sold plants with Monarch eggs on them. We had numerous Monarch Butterflies in our yard but, no caterpillars.
With 7 different milkweed species and well over 100 plants ( early spring) one would assume that our market plants would be chomped on a wee bit. Strangly, this is not the case.

Looking at the underside of a Swamp Milkweed Plant one can see a huge green Monarch caterpillar
Monarch eggs were a bonus
A small Queen of the Prairie plant that rather small has one huge pink bloom on it

Starting small! Now ten years later both Suzy's gardens and daughter have grown

Spectacular! A huge Jack-in-the Pulpit Favorites
This is the one (Jack in the Pulpit) in the backyard/metro-park I was telling you about. I had my daughter stand next too it for size reference:o)
* Nodding Onion Garden' s "Measuring Stick"... HUM? With this wonderful form of "plant Measurement" next seasons plants will certainly be shorter than this years.
